More Films Added to Tribeca Festival Lineup

New films from Julie Delpy, Marjane Satrapi, Morgan Spurlock, Michael Winterbottom, Terry George, Chris Colfer and Lynn Shelton are among the works that will be shown at the 2012 Tribeca Film Festival, its organizers announced on Thursday.

The festival’s Spotlight lineup will include “2 Days in New York,” Ms. Delpy’s follow-up to her 2007 film, “2 Days in Paris,” and starring her, and Chris Rock as a lover meeting her family for the first time; “Chicken With Plums (Poulet Aux Prunes),” a live-action feature about an Iranian violinist from Ms. Satrapi (“Persepolis”) and Vincent Paronnaud; Morgan Spurlock’s new documentary “Mansome,” an exploration of masculinity, body image and facial hair; “Trishna,” Mr. Winterbottom’s adaptation of “Tess of the d’Urbervilles,” relocated to present-day India and starring Freida Pinto; “Whole Lotta Sole,” by Mr. George (“Hotel Rwanda”), a crime comedy about a Belfast man’s robbery of a local fish market; “Struck By Lightning,” a comedy narrated by a dead high school senior, written by Mr. Colfer (“Glee”) and directed by Brian Dannelly (“Saved!”); and “Your Sister’s Sister,” Ms. Shelton’s follow-up to “Humpday,” starring Mark Duplass, Emily Blunt and Rosemarie DeWitt as grieving relatives who come together at a cabin.

The roster will also include “BAM150,” Michael Sládek’s documentary about the 150th anniversary of the Brooklyn Academy of Music, and “Évocateur: The Morton Downey Jr. Movie,” a documentary by Seth Kramer, Daniel A. Miller and Jeremy Newberger about that high-volume, in-your-face television host.

The festival also announced its Cinemania series, which will include seven thrillers by directors from around the world; and special screenings of the documentaries “Joe Papp in Five Acts,” about the producer and Public Theater founder, directed by Tracie Holder and Karen Thorsen; “Queen: Days Of Our Lives,” about that British rock band and directed by Matt O’Casey; and “The Zen of Bennett,” about the singer Tony Bennett and directed by his son Danny.

As in previous years, a concurrent Tribeca/ESPN Sports Film Festival will also offer a lineup, of five sports documentaries. A program of short films is expected to be announced next week. The Tribeca Film Festival runs from April 18 through 29.
